A meek adventure into the swankiest street in town.
So, there's this street in Winter Park called Park Avenue. It's like our own little Rodeo Drive, fraught with designer boutiques and incredibly ostentatious (and expensive) restaurants. We went on an adventure today, and dove into the world of the elite.
Okay, maybe we just walked in the park and tried to stay away from the snooty people. BUT we did find a gem of a book store tucked in an alleyway, where I purchased a book of Cicero's essays. Score!
We also found a gelato shop. Every time I see somewhere selling "gelato", I have to try it and see how it compares to the real thing. Usually, it's terrible.
Points to look out for in telling if gelato will be good:
1. The gelato looks like whipped cream in it's container.
2. The spoons are miniature neon spatulas.
3. They have REAL gelato flavors, like stracciatella and and dulce de leche.
If the above aren't true, don't bother trying it. I carefully inspected the shop before relenting to purchase some. To my delight, ALL THREE WERE TRUE. We had some, and it was the best freaking gelato I've had since I left Italy. If you come visit me, I'll take you there.
